The Tenth Annual Conference of the International Association for the Philosophy of Time (IAPT) will take place in the Universidad de Santiago, Chile, on July 7th-9th, 2025.
The yearly meeting of the IAPT is the largest conference worldwide devoted to the philosophy of time broadly construed. It is usually organised rotating between Australasia, the US, and Europe, but this year it will take place for the first time at South America.
In 2025, the local organizer of the conference in Santiago is Carlo Rossi (
carlo.rossi@usach.cl). The program committee is chaired by David Ingram. The conference is sponsored by Universidad de Santiago de Chile, with additional funding generously provided by Wake Forest University and the Thomas Jack Lynch Philosophy Fund.
Conference Venue
The three days of the conference will take place at the CEPEC building of the Universidad Santiago. All plenary talks will take place in the Auditorium of the CEPEC Building, while panel sessions will take place in rooms 301, 302, and 303. Please check the conference program for further specific information about room allocation.
Notice that this building is in a different part of town from the main University campus. The building is only a few steps away from the Metro station Escuela Militar.
There are plenty of lunch options in close proximity to the conference building. The two entrances to the metro station "Escuela Militar" have food courts (https://subcentro.cl/categoria/restaurant-cafe/). Here you can also find a list of restaurants at a walking distance of not more than 10 minutes.
Transport from the Airport and around Santiago
Santiago is very easy reach from its international airport (20 to 25 minutes outside traffic hours). If you want to take a taxi to your hotel, the most advisable way is to book one with one of the following official taxi companies, which you’ll find immediately after exiting customs:
Ubers may also be booked, but since they do not have access to the official taxi rank, drivers will typically request passengers to agree on a meeting point inside the express parking lot of the airport, located right in front of the international terminal.
A cheaper option to official taxis and Uber is to book a place with a
mini-van service. These mini-vans typically drop a group of passengers in different parts of town. Bookings can be arranged online or at the same desk than official taxis.
The easiest way of moving around Santiago is using its Metro system, which practically takes you everywhere. You can buy a Metro card, the Bip card, at any Metro station for 1,5 USD. Cashiers only take cash, so be advised to bring some with you if you will buy a card. Bip cards can be later charged online or using cash at cashiers in Metro stations. The card is also integrated with the bus system and allows you to combine Metro and Bus pretty much for the same price.
Uber is also an option that works reasonably well, in particular at those times during the day where you do not find much traffic in central parts of town.
